Tutorial - To Defy the Laws of Tradition

Published by Jason at 9:07 am under Tips, Video Edit This

When I first heard Primus, I thought that it would be impossible to ever attempt to play bass like Les Claypool. But when you slow it down and break down the parts, it’s not that hard to learn and master with a lot of practice. Playing that and singing at the same time is a whole different story. So below is a nice breakdown of the first song on the first Primus album, minus the Rush sample intro. And here’s a clip of the original to compare.

    Les rocks!
Hey sorry about chasing your buddy tailback away, my “athesitic and anti-american” rants he told me chased him off. But what can I say, I love where I live but I hate Washingtons policy and believe that patriotism is BS that humans are humans whether Afgani or Iraqi or American, that was too much for the tailback. Sorry, he was my friend too but he now hates me because I “crossed the line.” But he has fallen prey to people like Kamal Saleem http://www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org/press-releases/gazette-com-speakers.html it seems tailback was a right wing christian with a seemingly reasonable presentation.

Hey Dsent, I didn’t even know you were one of the ones that tailback had a problem with (and I certainly would not have labeled you a douchebag - I was thinking more along the lines of lemming-boy with that). I agree with you more often than not, though I can see how your tone might be offputting to some. I typically try to keep this blog free of politics, though you’re always welcome to drop a comment on my other blog, Obama Action Comics.

And yes, Les does rock! I’ve been on a really big prog rock kick lately and the Flying Frog Brigade discs are in heavy rotation. His version of Thela Hu Gingeet (sp?) is insane!
